Community-Based Programs Hosts Asthma Lesson at Albany Elementary School

Our Community-Based Programs team had a great time teaching 1st graders at Giffen Memorial Elementary School about lung function and how having asthma affects them.

After the lesson, the children, with the help of our interns from the UAlbany School of Public Health and nursing students from The Sage Colleges, made a set of lungs that showed how they expand and contract when inhaling and exhaling. Two other 1st grade classes received classes on the respiratory system on Monday, as well.
