Whitney Young Health Names New Dental Director to Oversee Dental Practice

Whitney Young Health announced today that Hershel T. Ellenbogen D.M.D. recently joined the Whitney Young Health team as the AVP of Dental Services. He will oversee the organizations Dental Practice, which provides services at the Albany, Troy and Watervliet Health Centers as well as a collaborative practice arrangement with the Healthy Capital District Initiative that serves local schools with dental hygiene and education services.

Dr. Ellenbogen completed his doctorate of medical dentistry at Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry and received his General Practice Residency Certificate from Albany Medical Center Hospital. Most recently before joining Whitney Young Health, Dr. Ellenbogen owned a private practice in Whitinsville, MA, and was a pre-clinical instructor at Boston University.

“There is a direct correlation between oral health and overall health. We take great care to educate our patients about this,” said David Shippee, President and CEO of Whitney Young Health. “Dr. Ellenbogen’s addition to our staff will help ensure that all of our dental practice operations continue to evolve as the needs of our patients change and help to lead us in continual efforts to enhance the quality of the care provided to our patients.”

Dr. Ellenbogen has lectured throughout New York State about dental care for patients with HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. He also taught at the University of Boston’s Dental School, where he was a faculty member. Dr. Ellenbogen is a member of the American Dental Association.
