TROY, N.Y. >> Whitney Young Health has received a donation from The McCarthy Charities towards major facility and equipment upgrades at its Troy Health Center.

Grant funding from The McCarthy Charities helped purchase a potentially lifesaving high-tech blood pressure device, as well as a dermascope, a diagnostic tool for skin conditions. The donation also allowed for the acquisition of new hygienic waiting room furniture that will accommodate more patients comfortably.

“Providing excellent health care to vulnerable populations sometimes requires help from our friends, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner than The McCarthy Charities,” said David Shippee, president and CEO of Whitney Young Health. “This gracious gift will allow Whitney Young Health to continue to be the community resource that our patients rely on, expect and deserve.”

Since Whitney Young’s Troy Health Center opened 12 years ago a 6 102nd St., it has provided critical health care services for more than 4,000 patients annually.

The McCarthy Charities is a private family foundation dedicated to improving the lives of the residents of Rensselaer County for more than 100 years. Over the years, the group has supported medical and dental services at Whitney Young Health’s Troy Health Center.
