WHITNEY YOUNG HEALTH NAMES NEW CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER

Whitney Young Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Marietta Angelotti, BA, MD as Chief Medical Officer, effective January 11th

Angelotti served as the Associate Medical Director for the Office of Quality and Patient Safety at the New York State Department of Health and the Island Peer Review Organization since 2012. While at DOH, Angelotti helped design and directed a program to retrain the state’s primary care resident physicians in the principles of the patient centered medical home. She was also part of the team working on the State’s new Advanced Primary Care model. Angelotti also has many years of experience directly working with and overseeing services for individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges. As CMO at WYH, she will be instrumental in developing strategies to address the current health care industry issues in terms of payment methodologies and how to engage patients in their own care.

“I am thrilled to join the dedicated and innovative staff at Whitney Young Health Center who provide excellent care to our community. I look forward to helping align the Center with the future of healthcare transformation, while continuing this tradition of excellence,” said Angelotti.

“As the health care industry faces a sea change, we anticipate that Dr. Angelotti’s unique professional experiences will be a great asset to WYH,” said Dave Shippee, CEO of Whitney Young Health. “Her blend of practice experiences from the fields of primary care and behavioral health will be key ingredients in helping us reshape the organization for the next generation of health care delivery. She is attuned to our mission and is motivated to help us strengthen the health care safety net in the Capital District.”

Angelotti trained at Boston University, the Medical College of Pennsylvania-Hahnemann University Medical School, and completed her residency at the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine at Shands Hospital – University of Florida in Gainesville.

She is a board-certified Family Practitioner who, prior to medical school, worked in the behavioral health field. Angelotti practiced in an NCQA PCMH Level 3 recognized primary care setting for a number of years and is quite familiar with the expectations that bring to the relationship WYH establishes with its patients.
